According to Wikipedia, Data Wrangling (or data munging) "is loosely the process of manually converting or mapping data from one "raw" form into another format that allows for more convenient consumption of the data with the help of semi-automated tools.".

The mid term vision behind this project is to establish an automated process of OpenStreetMap (OSM) data for professional use in research and commerce.

Usage of this data includes mainly map visualization, geocoding, routing, statistics and spatial analysis in general. The OSM data processing step involves quality assurance, monitoring, homogenization and consolidation. This process is mainly based on a stack of tools as well as a set of rules and an ontology. At the core of data processing is a rules set and an ontology of tags.

Finally, we present some tools as work in process as well as a rudimentary OSM tag ontology.
